Season Wrap-Up

Well guys, PFTC has officially ended is first real season. And what a season it was.

We began with the "Get a Clue" Festival at Bar 82 in November. We brought together artists of all kinds for two weeks of crazy ten minute play making.

In March, we moved to Under St. Mark's Theater where we did a reading of Fit by Erin Austin- a play that was accepted into the NYC Fringe Festival and will be performed this August!

Following, Fit was a reading of Team Awesome by Ross Evans. And it was...awesome. (USM)

May was all about Single's Night. 7 writers, 7 solo plays, and a sold out show!(USM)

Get ready for Fit this summer. We also have a couple of surprises up our sleeves.

Spoken Word, Team Awesome, and all that

So apparently April is National Poetry Month. We couldn't have picked a better time to bring you the world premiere of Team Awesome- a play written entirely in verse.

Ross first introduced me to spoken word poetry about 2 and a 1/2 years ago. He got me watching a lot of Def Jam poetry. (This one is my favorite he showed me.) I dare you not to watch it and smile.

Of course NYC is the epicenter for almost all art forms. (Yes, I'm a snob.) So, we started seeing some live spoken word, slam poetry, and other forms of rhyme-age. Here are some of the best places to check out live poetry in the city.

Nuyorican Poet's Cafe: The Nuyorican presents groundbreaking works of literature, music, theater, performance art, poetry slam, hip hop, visual art and champions established as well as rising artists from every background imaginable.

Bowery Poetry Club: Poetry, Comedy, Theatre, Beer, Repeat: Poetry, Comedy, Theatre, Beer.
http://www.bowerypoetry.com/
KGB Bar: Admission is free, drinks are cheap and strong, and the level of excellence is such that KGB has been named best literary venue in New York City by New York Magazine, the Village Voice, and everyone else who bestows these awards of recognition.

And of course, check out Team Awesome on 4/25 at Under St. Mark's. It's a great play and I'm honored to be a part of it and have our company bring it to life next week.
